Isn't there something inappropriately condescending and self-important about this motto, found on a t-shirt sold by the APA and the title of a book by Simon Blackburn? Doesn't it seem to suggest that one is only
really thinking when one thinks philosophically?

I dunno. When we in grad school, some of us thought of printing a shirt up with a picture of Socrates. The accompanying motto was "Fuck Wisdom. Give me a job!." We were going to sell them at the APA and make a fortune.
Given the standard Cartesian argument, what are the implications of denying the APA's imperative?
