Why, oh why, must the wiki always be down?

And can somebody who knows what they're doing fix it?

It's down because someone removed it completely.

Looks like the troll who last deleted the wiki lives in the Kirksville, Missouri area; zip code approx. 63501; IP address is 69.92.109.23. Know any disgruntled, unemployable philosophy a-holes near there?

Just FYI: It looks like some of the changes that were made to the wiki right before it went down aren't showing up anymore (e.g. I swear I saw that someone got an interview for the Drake VAP, and that there were a number of dittos for the Tulane position). People may want to double-check their last entries?

I also thought I saw that Cornell College has scheduled an interview for its postdoc position.

Anon 7:51- I tried to restore the wiki about the time it went down, and so that's likely my IP you're talking about. I basically copied and pasted the difference between the revision where the wiki was deleted and the previous revision. I noticed that some updates didn't show up. Sorry. Someone better than me seems to have done some more patching. Now when you look at past revisions on the history log, the full deletion doesn't show up. I don't know enough to know why. But I didn't do it. (Hence the log note to the troll to PFO...)

(And to boot, I have some APA interviews, so I can't be disgruntled yet...)

Would you good folks kindly refrain from multi same-date posting on the job wiki. Many of us check by date searches rather than scrolling through the entire list. So when a date search jumps from 9 to 12, you might think "Action!!!" only to discover that "action" is but an extra three date-dittos for the same job.

BAD WAY: BFU- APA int sched. (12/16) (12/17, 12/17, 12/17)
GOOD WAY: BFU-APA int sched (12/16) (12/17, ditto, ditto)

By doing the above, date searches then reveal actual new information as well as tag those jobs who might have new dittos.

Minor point, I know, but each bit helps.

Anon 3:36,

Heaven forbid you have to read a whole 2 extra 12/17s.

Hi 5:52, Sorry I grabbed the wrong IP address! Please consider yourself officially exonerated. ;)

My AOS is Ancient, so I am checking the Phil wiki, as well as the Classics wiki. The issues on the Phil wiki are getting old.

The Classics wiki is never down, has never been vandalized, and is much better organized. It is password protected, but in a way that any Classicist can figure it out. This has evidently deterred the vandal who ran amok on wikihost last year, and seems to be back in action this year. I strongly suggest that we set up a completely new Philosophy wiki along the same lines. Anybody agree?

Here is the Classics job-blog where the wiki link (and password instructions) is located:

What the hell?! I thought this week was going to feature a deluge of interview notifications and wailing and gnashing of teeth. I still have almost 15 places that have yet to make a peep. What gives? Should I expect an X-mas morning stocking stuffer from these places? Santa needs to crack the whip. Let's get a fucking move on, folks!

You can check the archive, but as I remember from last year, the wiki slows down around now -- people who have interviews seem to lose interest in updating.

Any news from Rhodes or Mississippi State?
